Tarot Reading

The craft of Tarot is hundreds of years old and has been used the world over. Over the centuries, it’s captured our imagination, provided windows to solve mysteries, and understanding to the human psyche. But there’s still a cloud of mystery, and scepticism that surrounds tarot and tarot readings.

To some, tarot reading is a card game, a fun pass time, but when taken seriously, it’s anything but. Tarot cards and readings are forms of fortune telling, providing self discovery, clarity, purpose and understanding. It offers valuable information about our past, present and future.

What is Tarot?

Tarot is a deck of cards that contain imagery and suits that each represent an aspect of life. The cards are read in combination with one another to interpret the meaning of a given moment or scenario. They create awareness of the moment’s potential, influence or can bring a new perspective to the client.

Tarot cards can help tap into deeper inner knowledge, unconscious thought and offer valuable insights into one’s life. They can portray hidden motives, opportunities, pathways and potential to the client.

A tarot reading is a review of chosen tarot cards to interpret their meaning about a specific situation or question presented by the client. During a tarot reading, the tarot deck is shuffled and then a tarot spread - pattern in which you lay your tarot cards out - is placed down. The location of the cards in the pattern signifies a specific meaning in the reading. A spread can be as small as a single card, or 10 or more.

There are many different types of tarot spreads, each with it’s only meaning. The classic Celtic Cross, the career path, the horseshoe, and the relationship spread.

How Does Tarot Reading Work?

During a reading, The Scriber will look at the cards in the spread and see how they influence each other in order to interpret the meaning of the cards. The Scriber uses several decks to overlay readings for reaffirmation of messaging using Rider Waite and Light Seers as examples. Light Seers deck is an re-imagining of the traditional tarot archetypes and symbols of the Rider Waite, a bohemian, contemporary style that expresses the light and dark sides of your nature featuring expressive people and symbols that tell stories, ask questions, and provide answers.

The Scriber uses the cards as prompts to help the client discover their own, sometimes hidden, motivations and behaviour patterns and understand how the elements of their situation relate to one another.

Cards don’t always provide new information but instead represent the situation in a way that helps the client find clarity and consider how to move forward. Sometimes, it just helps them to acknowledge something they know already but need a little confirmation about.
